Strange Problem in Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition

Post by obzerver »

After I couldn't fix the problem with Cacti running on RedHat Linux, I thought of installing anew on Windows.

However, the installation failed. I followed the documents word by word
both on this forum and other one written by unknown person at
http://home.comcast.net/~bsod2600/install_windows.html

After the installation, and creating a graph, I don't see the graph,
I See an X - Mark

how to solve this problem ?

1) try changing the rrdtool version to 1.0, click save. change it back to 1.2 click save again. In the Technical Support page, does it give you that error still?

2) If #1 didnt fix it, then try switching to the cygwin version of rrdtool.

Are you using the cygwin or win32 version of rrdtool?

Make sure the IUSR_ and IIS_WPG accounts have read/execute rights on rrdtool.exe.

Hi,
BSOD2600, i followed your document @ http://home.comcast.net/~bsod2600/install_windows.html

As the document mentions to install all the required tools, I did that
-------------
Downloads

Required:

Cacti. Latest version available.
RRDTool. Minimum version: 1.0. Recommended: 1.2.15.
Note: Cygwin build for versions before 1.2.15 are required. Win32 build should work fine after 1.2.15.
PHP. Minimum: 4.3.6. Recommended: 5.2. Download the installer and zip package.
MySQL. Minimum: 4.1. Recommended: 5.0. Download the larger ZIP/Setup.exe file, NOT Windows Essentials.
Note: MySQL 5 is only supported in Cacti 0.8.6i or later.
Optional:

Cactid. Latest version available.
Cygwin. Recommended: 1.5. Download setup.exe.
Apache. Minimum version: 2.0. Recommended version: 2.2. Download the MSI installer.
Net-SNMP. Minimum: 5.3.1. Recommended: 5.4. Download the Win32 installer.

---------------------

Okay, the users IUSR_ and IIS_WPG folder c:\rrdtool\ had the full rights I selected the rrdtool.exe and gave full rights to the above mentioned users.
Put c:\rrdtool in Path directory

using http://www.cacti.net/downloads/rrdtool/ ... 1.5.20.zip

-----------------------

ERROR: Installed RRDTool version does not match configured version.
Please visit the Configuration Settings and select the correct RRDTool Utility Version.

and I don't see the graphs. I see X Mark in the graph photo placeholder.

Can't figure out what the problem is:

Formatted the PC.
1- DId a fresh 2003 Ent Installation
2- Did fresh installation of Cacti

What do you guys think the problem is.

Hmm. Tony should answer this, but in the mean time, you should goto the cli and run the following:

Code: Select all

rrdtool
And post the output here. Please note in your post, which RRDtool you are using (cygwin vs. mfc).

A quick question: is the graph not appearing because there is no data is mySQL database ? could this be also possible or there is some other problem ?

1) is your cacti scheduled task set to run every 5 minutes?
2) Make sure both the poller and cron times in cacti's settings are set to 5 minutes.
3) Change the logging level to debug for ONE polling cycle and post the results as an attachment.
