national symbols/squares on graphs

Post by drookie »

solaris x86 10
cacti 0.8.6j
rrdtool 1.2.3

Still can't fugue out, but when apache2 on my server starts automatically on boot, the day and month representations on rrdtool graphs are printed in national form (all ot those 'Mon', 'Tue' and 'Jan'/'Feb'), and, since rrdtool isn't localized, they appear on images in the form on national symbols (which aren't readable) or in the form of empty squares. I am currently fighting squares, because national symbols appears only if I am modufying the apache environment by unsetting LC_* variables.

When I start apache2 by hand (using exactly SAME script which is used by boot rootines) all starts to look OK. I checked the apache environment twice and made it exactly the same, still changes persist. :( And I am not capable to reproduce the behaviour with squares (I can only remove 'em by restarting apache) - so I want to ask what makes cacti/rrdtool to print national date representation ?

Thanks.

Solved. LC_TIME variable was the key.
