Waiting on 1/1 pollers.

Post by msv_magnusm »

Hi, I can't get my poller to work in cacti. The install is completely fresh, I did the install, corrected the paths, switched to the right rrdtool version and tried to run the poller. So my only device is localhost.

The poller says like this:
/usr/local/bin/php /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/docroot/cacti/poller.php
09/25/2007 09:08:11 AM - POLLER: Poller[0] DEBUG: About to Spawn a Remote Process [CMD: /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/cactid, ARGS: 0 1]
Waiting on 1/1 pollers.
Waiting on 1/1 pollers.
..
and does so for a few minutes.

My log says:
09/25/2007 09:08:11 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Cell: "select count(*) from poller_item"
09/25/2007 09:08:11 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Assoc: "select id from host where disabled = '' order by id"
09/25/2007 09:08:11 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Exec: "replace into settings (name, value) values ('path_webroot','/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/cacti-0.8.6j')"
09/25/2007 09:08:11 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Exec: "truncate table poller_time"
09/25/2007 09:08:11 AM - POLLER: Poller[0] DEBUG: About to Spawn a Remote Process [CMD: /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/cactid, ARGS: 0 1]
09/25/2007 09:08:12 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Exec: "replace into settings (name, value) values ('date',NOW())"
09/25/2007 09:08:12 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Assoc: "select poller_id,end_time from poller_time where poller_id = 0"
09/25/2007 09:08:12 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Assoc: "select poller_output.output, poller_output.time, poller_output.local_data_id, poller_item.rrd_path, poller_item.rrd_name, poller_item.rrd_num from (poller_output,poller_item) where (poller_output.local_data_id=poller_item.local_data_id and poller_output.rrd_name=poller_item.rrd_name) LIMIT 10000"
09/25/2007 09:08:13 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Assoc: "select poller_id,end_time from poller_time where poller_id = 0"
09/25/2007 09:08:13 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] DEBUG: SQL Assoc: "select poller_output.output, poller_output.time, poller_output.local_data_id, poller_item.rrd_path, poller_item.rrd_name, poller_item.rrd_num from (poller_output,poller_item) where (poller_output.local_data_id=poller_item.local_data_id and poller_output.rrd_name=poller_item.rrd_name) LIMIT 10000"

And the last two rows are repeated all the time.

I have made a few other cacti installations without any problem with the same host distribution and the same version of cacti, but this one is twisting my nerves.

My system is a Redhat 5 x86 where I have compiled apache and php myself. Mysql is a binary install (4.1.23).

I found the fix, change SNMP ping to regular ping (system ping).

Thanks, but that wasn't my problem. I just found out that I had forgotten to create cactid.conf. Not sure why I experienced the same problem with cmd.php but I feel satisfied now.

Actually your reply made me go back to the problem and find this, so credits to you. :)

I had the exact same problem (and fix).

Developers, is this a bug? Shouldn't the SNMP ping work correctly? In what scenario would it result in the never-terminating and looping SQL queries?

Mine is 0.8.6j

I've got exactly same problem, fixed turning "SNMP -Reliable" into "PING - Faster option with risk"

I got this problem just after upgrading from 0.8.6c to 0.8.6j, any idea from the origin of this bug ?
