Linux LVM and graphing filesystem utulization

Post by kperrier »

I am setting up cacti and one of the things I want to chart is filesystem utilization. We use the LVM and unfortunately the title of the charts get truncated on the LVM name to /dev/mapper/vg and I do not see a way to correlate the filesytem being graphed to the specific filesystem on the server. I am using the "Unix - Available Disk Space" graphing template.

I have attempted to use the search to find a post about this, but I have not had any luck in finding a post for this issue.

Can someone point me either a template change to display the name of the filesystem and not the logical volume name or a way to find out the complete name of the logical volume so I can manually edit the graph title?

Thanks!

Well, because the default template doesn't support the mount point.

I know that the MIB exposes the mount point, but it will take some work on your part to modify the script server and xml resource file to expose the mount point so you can use it in the graph and data source titles.

Please find some help for this task at the first link of my signature. Scroll down to the Script Data Query Section

Seems that the query_dskDevice breaks on the "-" in the lvm mapper naming convention.

/dev/mapper/vg-music results in the graph being named /dev/mapper/vg-

Please verify on 087e, which is current. If would then consider this as a bug
