Cisco FWSM Data and Graph Template

Post by bcheng »

I've created some templates for use with Cisco Firewall Services Module (FWSM). The FWSM version we have is 3.1, but should work with 2.x as well.

In case it makes any difference, the Cacti I have is customized to poll every minute.

Here's what's graphed:
CPU % - 1 Min: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.4.1
Memory Free: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.5.1
Total Connections: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.2.2.2.1.5.40.6

You just have to import these templates, then create a Generic SNMP host to poll the Interface statistics, then add in these graphs.

Worth noting these OIDs to not appear to contain any results if you are using multiple context mode (i.e. virtual firewalls).

Investigating whether there is any SNMP support for multiple context mode..

Correction:

You can can actually poll the individual contexts but not the system context. This will actually return you CPU % for that context only - even though the CPU is shared between all contexts. This is where I got confused - most of my contexts are at 0% CPU!

To get the total CPU for the module though it seems you need to create an aggregate graph of all the individual CPU values - not so bad.
