Problem with variable type (Gauge/Gauge32)

Post by farnsworth »

Hello,
I met a problem with, at least, the oid hrSystemProcesses returned by a AIX server from my linux box.

Code: Select all

cacti:/usr/share/snmp/mibs# snmpget -c public -v1 irtech hrSystemProcesses.0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemProcesses.0 = Wrong Type (should be Gauge32 or Unsigned32): INTEGER: 186
hrSystemProcesses is defined as Gauge on AIX (5.3), under debian linux it's defined as Gauge32.
I'm totally new in snmp and cacti, and I'm unable to poll this value with this problem.
How could I solve this?
Thanks for your help,
Max

This is fixed in 0.8.6k, which will be released in July. Btw, this isn't a Cacti problem, more like an agent responding with a value that the MIB is not expecting. We added a patch to get around this issue.

Good news, I will check in July for new release in debian testing.
The patch will only be available for 0.8.6k? not for j (just moved from i to j in debian Etch).
Thanks,
Max
