Is it possible to specify a data retention period in Cacti?

/var/log/mysql directory (containing mysql-bin.*) has grown too large, at the rate of 1.3GB per day. As the harddisk capacity is only about 40GB (30GB usable), is there a way to retain these data for only 30 days?

Or can those files in /var/log/mysql be safely deleted without affecting the data needed for the graphs?

What did you save in the mysql directory ?????
The rrd Files? The mysql Database?

these files are used by MySQL for binary logging, which you can disable : http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/binary-log.html

Thanks for the advice. However, I only manage to locate the relevant help in the command "RESET MASTER". It deletes all the binary logs. However, the change is not permanent.

This is not a Cacti question, but I would appreciate anyone could share the command to make the change permanent.
