Adding/removing datasources/graphs externally

Post by Aceldama »

Hello, I'm new to the forums so I'm not exactly sure if this is in the right place but here is what I'd like to do and I'm wondering if there is already a way to do it:

I would like to be able to add and remove graphs/data to cacti without using the web-based cacti interface. I'm thinking something like a CLI command where a script is called to directly input data using cacti functions. Something simple where I provide the name of a graph template and perhaps a data source and then when I refresh my graphs in cacti it just shows up.

Through serching I found the following thread which provides a php script(s) to do something similar though I'm not entirely sure it's what I want:

http://forums.cacti.net/about7683-0-asc-0.html

Are there any other suggestions or solutions out there to achieve this functionality that I am missing?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the links.

My data sources are pretty much entirely going to be perl scripts. So I was hoping for something simple via CLI where I supply a datasource (perl script) and maybe a graph template and some names.

I'm going to re-read the first thread.
