ifSpeed='Wrong Type

Post by ddouma »

I peeps,

I use a Netgear GS724T gigabit switch. And since the upgrade to cacti version 'j' I have a strange problem. Cacti always says this:

+ Found item [ifSpeed='Wrong Type (should be Gauge32 or Unsigned32): 1000000000'] index: 1 [from value]
+ Found item [ifSpeed='Wrong Type (should be Gauge32 or Unsigned32): 1000000000'] index: 2 [from value]

With the old version of cacti 'h' I didn't had this problem, because I downloaded the latest snmp.php from svn. I tryed that also today but with no effect.

Has someone a solution?

I get the same thing and I was reading in the forums to grab the snmp.php from svn. I grabbed it and overwrote the existing on that was located in the lib directory (/opt/cacti/lib/snmp.php for me).

Didn't work though - I'm still getting that error. Also, all my graphs show 0.00. I even used 64-bit counters - no go.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I also had this problem using 0.8.6j with the GS724T. I've never used anything earlier than 0.8.6j, but I can offer that the problem no longer happens with 0.8.7.

Unfortunately, the GS724T doesn't support 64 bit counters. If you select 64 bit, then your values will always be 0.

Btw, do you find that the GS724T takes a long time to poll for snmp? I'm seeing 65-70ms for snmp with a directly connect host.

The SVN version is hosed if you have 0.8.6. I suggest that you upgrade to 0.8.7 and be careful. Then let's discuss this one again.

The problem is that the "Agent" on the remote device is reporting this error message. Once you make the update, we can talk about the "Work Around".

I will need to know if you are using php_snmp or the net-snmp binaries. You can od this on the Tech Support Page under Utilities in 0.8.7.

Hi

Sorry for a reply to an old post...

Can you please tell me how you got the GS724T to work with Cacti? I'm totally new to Cacti, and I want to monitor the bandwidth on each port, but have no clue on how to get it to work
