Changed password su password now cacti doesn't work

Post by oneiltj »

OK - I'm bad - I'm running mysql as root. It's the only way I can get it to work properly...
I changed my su password yesterday and cacti stopped polling on some devices. So I switched it back but some devices in Cacti never recovered. I restarted the box and the same. But only some devices. Only useful error I see on these devices is:
/var/www/html/cacti/rra/device_651.rrd on config line xxx had no valid data.
I did a mysqlcheck and found no errors.
Any suggestions?

I have some kind of firewall weirdness going on here and it is not cacti related. Gremlins are playing here somewhere messing with communications from my cacti machine.

I do believe I need to rebuild my cacti machine though. Just general build problems.

Question: To save my current configuration; all devices I'm polling do I just export the cacti database and rras?
Should I do some sort purge before I export?

-thanks!

Yep, mysqldump the database and copy rrd files to recover after re-installing. If you added templates, please save ./scripts and ./resources as well
