Status = Down

Post by ccoager »

I'm new to cacti and still playing around with it. I created some graphs for localhost and it was working well for a few days. Now the host status shows Down all the time and nothing is being graphed anymore.

Obviously the host is not down and SNMP is verified to be running. I tried version 1 and version 2 of SNMP, tried restarting the SNMP service but nothing seems to work.

How do I reset the status and get it working again?

Gentoo Linux AMD64 2.6.18-hardened
cacti-0.8.6j-r4
net-snmp-5.4

SNMP - Reliable

I have also tried, Ping and SNMP - Most Recommended

Neither worked however.

Can you query the host :

Code: Select all

$ snmpwalkv -v 1 -c yourcommunity xx.xx.xx.xx sysdescr

Since I am still testing cacti I ended up deleting the host and re-adding it. However, it would be nice to know how to fix this in the future when I use this in production.

Just a try: 64bit OS support was broken some time ago. I know this was fixed at least in net-snmp 5.3. May you try to downgrade to 5.3 just for a test?

If it happens again I will give that a try. It has been working for awhile so I'm hoping it is fine now.
