Cacti 0.8.6j - not able to use/see new data queries

I am running 0.8.6j on Redhat Enterprise 4 update 2 (mysqld 4.1.20, httpd 2.0.52, php 4.3.9) with the default apache and mysql that comes with the distro. Cacti is working fine with the execption that the data queries are not selectable in the hosts screens for data templates that I have imported and even created manually.

I created a host entry in Cacti for a Linux based remote host and used the "ucd/net SNMP Host" template. This host is working fine and cacti is polling it, I can add additional graphs, but not data queries from the drop down menu. The template/query objects are viewable and editable from the templates and collectn method screens, but not selectable fromteh device/host areas.

Any idea how I can fix this problem? I have applied all of the patches to the version I am using.
