ucd/net - CPU Usage: shows ticks and not percentage

Post by shane »

Hello all,

I have configured the CPU graph for a net-snmp host. However the graph is showing some huge numbers (in millions) instead of showing percentages. The snmpwalk output looks like:

> snmpwalk -v 1 myhost.com -c public .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.51.0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::ssCpuRawNice.0 = Counter32: 16686

>snmpwalk -v 1 myhost.com -c public .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.52.0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::ssCpuRawSystem.0 = Counter32: 16703849

> snmpwalk -v 1 myhost.com -c public .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.50.0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::ssCpuRawUser.0 = Counter32: 33400673

I am not sure on which side the problem is: Does net-snmp have to be configured to send out percentages instead of ticks? Or does cacti graph template need to be modified to show percentages instead of ticks?

About Cacti:
Version 0.8.6i
Operating System: unix
PHP SNMP Support: yes

uname -a:
*snip* 2.6.16-xenU #1 SMP Thu Nov 30 13:48:50 SAST 2006 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux

grep -c ^processor /proc/cpuinfo
1

Thanks,
Shane

The default OID for cpu_user seems to be .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.50.0. Should we use the OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.9.0 instead?

Thanks,
Shane
