Upgrade from Cacti c to j - Not graphing anymore

Post by snmpbandit »

Whats up guys, I am kinda a newb, but I hope some one can help.

Installed cacti on debian sarge. Real easy followed instructions from a previous post. Edited the config.php file, to update correct database info. Everything seems fine except it is not graphing anything. I also ran the cacti-plug arch. I couldn't run the patch, because it was finding php files that were in my cacti_old dir. So I replaced all the files from the files 0.8.6j folder to cacti.

If I run the cmd.php, and poller.php, i get graphs. I just have the localhost being graphed now, so really no snmp hosts, I want to solve this first.

Seems like I missed something during the upgrade. Please help, I have been going through these forums for days now, and keep coming up short.

I've been off my game for sometime, so if you need some info, versions etc, just let me know how I find that out.

Thanks

This may be a debian issue. Try running

Code: Select all

php -q rebuild_poller_cache.php
and post output. Currently, there's another thread with debian distro stuff; you may want to have a look

Looks like it didn't do anything. This is what the output said.

WARNING: Do not interrupt this script. Rebuilding the Poller Cache can take quite some time

Thanks. I'll check the other debian posts.

No go on that gandalf. Anything else I can try? I am ready to squash this install and install fedora or some other distro.

Can I use any of the plugins with 0.8.6c ? That was the main reason I installed j was so I could use the Thold, and monitor plugins...

Thanks,

Did you already consider CactiEZ? This is a CentOS based auto-install CD that brings cacti along with plugin arch and a lot of ready-to-use plugins. Verion 0.2 currently available as beta, AFAIK. See http://cactiusers.org

Thanks Gandalf, I'll give it a try. I'll let you guys know how it works out. There seems to be lots of positive feedback on it. Sweet.

If you have graphs when running manually poller.php, you should check the entry in your crontab. On a debian system, you should have something like this in the file /etc/cron.d/cacti :

Code: Select all

*/5 * * * * www-data /usr/bin/php /usr/share/cacti/site/poller.php >/dev/null 2>
/var/log/cacti/poller-error.log

Yeah, CactiEZ is legit. Thanks. It kinda takes the fun out of trying to be a Linux Nerd. But it's sweet. Thanks Gandalf.
