Installation Problem on Suse 10

Post by Maya »

Hello all, I am trying to install Cacti 0.8.6j on a Suse 10 machine.
I searched the forums but could not find a solution.
All the stages according to the cacti installation guide are going smoothly, with no errors.
However, when I try to point my browser to http://my_server/cacti
i get:

Error
You have created a new database, but have not yet imported the 'cacti.sql' file. At the command line, execute the following to continue:

mysql -u cactiuser -p cacti < cacti.sql

This error may also be generated if the cacti database user does not have correct permissions on the cacti database. Please ensure that the cacti database user has the ability to SELECT, INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE, CREATE, ALTER, DROP, INDEX on the cacti database.

1. I did mange to import the 'cacti.sql' file- all the tables are there on my newly created mysql database 'cacti'.
2. the cacti database user can perform all the commands mentioned above on the cacti database.
3. I tried moving the cacti directory to my apache's htdocs directory- that didn't help either.

Appreciate any help.

Please check mysql definitions in /etc/php.ini. I remember, there was an issue with the reference to the mysql.so library

Thanks for your input, Reinhard.
I'm not quite sure what you mean though, because there are other applications on this server that run fine on apache and mysql.
Any thoughts?

Did you check ./include/config.php settings?

Yeah I did.
As I said, I followed the installation instructions precisely with no problems whatsoever.
Thanks,
