Switching from 5 min. polling to 1 min polling ?

Post by ruud »

I have been using cacti for quite a while on several systems..
On one of these systems i recently added a bunch of external sensors of which i would like to be able to keep graphs with a higher resolution..

So i am thinking of switching from the standard 5 minuten polling cycle to a 1 minute polling cycle..

Is this possible without losing the data i have so far ?

I think i would have to "resize" the rrd files since they have to store a lot more info ?

Can all of this be done to a running system without having to recreate al of my graphs ? how ?
Server #1 : Cacti 0.8.7b | cmd.php | HP Proliant DL380 G5 (Dual Core Xeon 3.2 GHz, 14 Gb, 2x73 Gb RAID1 - System + 3x73 Gb RAID5 - SQL/RRA) | Gentoo Linux

While I'm not an expert when it comes to 1 min polling, you may find help on resizing at the first link of my signature. Scroll down to the RRDTools chapter

PS: Oh, my. Did not yet copy it to docs.cacti.net. Will do so in a second. Until then, find it in the HowTo forums.

Hello,

I have no solution for you, but maybe you have one for me ;)

How do you do to go from 5 min polling to 1 min polling ?

Thanks,

Fritz
