Size limit on query_ifName display?

Post by Kernel Panic »

Problem:
I have some ifNames that are pretty long and while the datasource are correct, I'm getting this in the graph titles:

router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1
router - Traffic - FastEthernet2/1

The first one is actually Fast Ethernet 2/1 the rest are FastEthernet 2/10, 2/11... 2/19

It also strips off the entire identification for Gigabit ports. They simply show up as this:

router - Traffic - GigabitEthernet
router - Traffic - GigabitEthernet

Is there a way to fix this or get around it?

My system:
I'm running Cacti 0.8.6j on FreeBSD 6.2 (installed via port)

Settings -> Visual -> Maximum Title Length

Then you will have to "Reapply Suggested Names" from the graph management screen.

I boosted it to 75 and it had no effect on the size of query_ifName values being displayed.

There are two formats being shown:

|query_ifAlias| (|host_description| |query_ifName|)

and

|host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName|

In both, the query_ifName instance is no more than 15 characters.

Opps.....

Alter the Settings -> Data Queries -> Maximum Field Length

I forgot about that field.... Sorry....

You will have to re-run the data queries on the devices (little green circles) on the device page and the "Reapply Suggested Names" on the graph management page.

Excellent stuff.

It's actually:

Settings -> Visuals -> Data Queries -> Maximum Field Length
