"Total in" cut off

Post by Helmut Schneider »

Hi,

where can I adjust the width of a graph or the font size? All standard templates "in/out bits/s and total bandwidth" do not show "total in", the legend is cut off the right side of the graph.

Thanks, Helmut

Two solutions possible
1. Edit the Graph Template. Select the 4th Graph Item and check the "Hard Return" checkbox.
2. If running rrdtool 1.2.x, select a mono spaced font for legend and size it to e.g. 8 points

thers a bug in how cacti outputs the --font parameter to rrdtool.

the only time cacti sends the --font parameter to rrdtool is when you have specified a font file.

if you read the rrdtool documentation at http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/doc/rrdgraph.en.html for the --font parameter you can see that you don't have to specify a font file

so --font LEGEND:7: is perfectly legal and will work (cacti never outputs --font without a filename).

there is several places in lib/rrd.php that checks for the font file that needs fixing.

Hm, not many fonts available here, I'll use your first suggestion.

Thanks, Helmut

Please open a bug report /feature request at http://bugs.cacti.net. But you won't be happy without mono spaced fonts in legends.
At least it may require using the tabbing chars available since rrdtool 1.2.x
