How to upgrade 0.8.6d to latest

Post by Skipdog77 »

Running on Windows 2003 Server. Has been running flawless for years. Need to upgrade from 0.8.6d to latest version and i'm looking for a quick and easy guide to do so. Would appreciate all pointers!

The issue i'm having is getting the CPU graph to work on a catalyst 3560.. Right now its not pulling the right info. The Catalyst 3550 works fine.

Pre-patched process

Post by Skipdog77 »

I read in the FAQ about applying the pre-patched patches. Would the process be:

Starting at my version: go into the next "pre-patched" folder and copy the files to the appropriate location? Repeat process till I reach the last patch level.. Is this correct?

Follow this guide http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/html/upgrade.html and modify accordingly for Windows.

BSOD -

So lets say I follow the guide and install Cacti using your windows installer. Currently it is installing 0.8.6i .. If I want to upgrade to .0.8.6j -- do I follow the same set of instructions that you linked? Just want to make sure I am on the same page with you.

No, do NOT use my installer for existing installations. It's not set up to compensate for existing data (it'll overwrite your stuff). It's ONLY meant to jump-start people with getting Cacti installed/working.

Yes, all upgrade procedures you'll follow that generic upgrade guide. Although, 0.8.6j makes no database changes, so all you really need to do is backup the cacti related files.

Personally, I'd backup everything (cacti / mysql), install cacti 0.8.6j, logon and have it do the db upgrades. Then hopefully everything works...
