xServe Templates

Post by rsaeks »

I am graph some basic SNMP stats (HD Usage, Interface Stats, and some process info) but I am looking to see if I can graph things like temperate and fanspeed.

I have played around looking for the SNMP OID values but haven't been able to find anything.

The OS the machine is running is 10.4. Has anyone been able to get something like this to work out?

If so, and you wanted to share I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Randy

According to the Apple website, OS X Server comes with net-snmp (aka UCD SNMP). Check http://www.net-snmp.org to see if there is support for such things. snmpd uses a plugin-like structure, so not all OIDs are supported on all platforms.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

This might be useful in building your own script query (if Cacti runs on the Xserve) or snmp exec (if it doesn't).

I'm also looking for Apple XServe information. Things like # of users connected, interface statistics, disk statistics, memory, cpu, and temperature would be nice to have.

net-snmp supports all of those on other platforms. Try the HOST-MIB templates, and the standard interface statistics template.
