Help - No RRD Files (Linux Box)

Post by tycho »

Hey Guys, i've been spending the last couple days trying to get Cacti working, everything is going well except I have no RRD flies in cacti/rra/.

I can add devices, snmp seems to be working okay, and i'm having a hard time troubleshooting, in both the poller and cacti log files i'm not seing any rrdtool create lines, onliy rrdtool graph entries. I have checked all permisions and even 777'd my cacti folder (recursive), as well as the mysql data directories. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction, really appreciate the help, everyone seems pretty good on this forum.

Poller.log (Multiple entries as follows):
(ip replaced for posting)

Data Source: c05str106 - Traffic - 1.1.1.1.1 - Vl1
RRD: /usr/local/httpd/htdocs/cacti/rra/ca05str106_traffic_in_9.rrd
Action: 0, OID: .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16.1 (Host: c05str106, Community: namon)

Cacti.log (Multiple entries as follows):

I'm having a similar problem. What I'm doing is this:

I first create a snmp v2 device with the generic snmp-enabled host template, and then create graphs of bits/sec and errors. The graph is generated fine

I then create a data template for two specific custom oids (hp pcl pages printed and ps pages printed), and then add them to a graph method in the method documented at http://docs.cacti.net/node/80, except I add two data source items to the data template. I then create a graph template as documented in that link, and then apply it to my device just as documented.

The problem is that no .rrd files for the custom host get created nor do any further hosts that I create like I did for the first one (interface statistics only) generate rrd files. If I delete the custom host the rrds for the newer hosts begin to be generated. The first host's .rrd files are updated as are the graphs as they should be, always. Any ideas? I'm using cacti 0.8.6j and rrdtool 1.0.48 on SuSE 9.2

Thanks for the reply.

I was reading through the forum more and noticed my rrdtool version wasn't set correctly in Cacti, working fine currently.

Now onto my tree messing up sometimes when I add and rename headings, arg.

I'm glad things are going well for you now but I was hoping that we were having the same problem :/

well fisrt off I reinstalled a new machine, and used the most recent version of cacti, I think that solved some other little problems.

Was hitting my head at that solution, was simple for the amount of work i was putting in trying to find the problem. Guess thats how you learn the system though.

Good luck.

Alright! I found that cacti uses php-snmp if it is installed and I had it installed on this system. I removed it and the graphs started showing, though I am troubleshooting now that the graphs all have nan fields... but that's progress!
