cacti graphs

Hi

i have graphs with ping latency and other parameters and i get values that i pretty accurate BUT in the graphs when for example the cisco reports traffic at 0 than cacti do that as well and well my manager like the program to do an average on the value ...

tried with average since i used counter before but i get no data ...

what does i suppose to do or how do i handle this kind of case ...

can i change data source type on the graphs without having to delete the graphs already there ???
