I just recently discover and inherit Cacti on my server and I am having a hard time recovery the user name and password. Your time is appreciated as I have searched everywhere for the answer.

Good day mate.

Greetings,

I have tried reset the password in cacti database under table user_auth and it seems not to be working. Still unable to login.

mysql> update user_auth set password=md5('testtest') where username='admin';
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)
Rows matched: 1 Changed: 1 Warnings: 0

Any help is appreciated...

That does reset the password.

What is the login page doing?

It simply keeps prompting for user name and password. It is so strange!

I should also mention that I have tried blanking the password as well. Clear browser's cache.

Extremely lost 1st time Cactian!

Ok, this is a different issue. If you are not seeing a red error message, then you do not have sessions enabled in PHP or there is an issue with sessions in PHP.

Thank you. I will check the PHP session setting and make sure that it is ON. I will be back to tell you the result.

Strangely enough, it was working before. Previous admin had it working, when he left, he did not leave behind the login information.

Oh well...
