RRDTOOL

Post by tritzell »

My Cacti keeps on searching for files in my RRDTOOL directory that are not found there. I discovered this problem with filemon from sysinternals. This issue causes the graphs to not be displayed. I tryied downloading the missing .dll files to the RRDTOOL directory. But it just keeps on looking for more files that do not belong in this directory. Is there a thing that im supposed to unzip into the folder. Or is there a mismapping of files that cause cacti to look in the wrong places.

Installed with:
IIS 6.0
BETA Windows Installer [v1.4 - 2006-11-16]
on windows 2003 server enterprise edition

Weird. Both of those dll files are completely unrelated to rrdtool.

Double check your rrdtool path in cacti, does it point to c:\rrdtool\rrdtool.exe?

Did you try downloading the WIN32 version of rrdtool? If so, go back to the CYGWIN version http://www.cacti.net/downloads/rrdtool/win32/

It's possible McAfee broke some of the scripting that the installer does -- try running the installer again (it'll reset your cacti / db) with the AV off.

Lastly, did you restart the computer after the installer?

My progress

Post by tritzell »

OK,
I added cygwin.zip files to the rrdtool directory. Less files are being reported missing. Now rrdtool.exe.manifest and rrdtool.exe.local are being reported missing.

i did restart the server (again just incase)

did not try the install again.

how do i change the rrdtool path ? is it in the registry or some .ini?

But i dont think the problem lies in the rrdtool directory anymore. When i refresh my graphs, filemon does not report missing files(success hits accross the board).
Looks like its coming down to the A/V messing the install
or
The rrdtool path being right.
