Help Replacing Denika with Cacti

Post by rlance »

I am currently running an old version of Denika and am replacing it with Cacti. Is it possible to move the old rrd files in Denika to Cacti so I can have all of the historical data and not start over from scratch?

Please see http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=12202, but I suppose it would at least be "inconvenient" for lots of rrd files

Thanks for the link. That worked perfectly.

I have one more problem I can't figure out though. I have an older version of Denika that uses RRD Version 0001. When I try to view the rrd files through Cacti (RRD Version 0003), it doesn't show up. So I tried 'rrdtool dump filename.rrd > filename.xml' and then 'rrdtool restore filename.xml filename.rrd' which appears to convert it to RRD Version 0003. The problem is the graphs that Cacti shows with the new rrd file is not what Denika shows. Can anybody explain this or know of a fix? Thanks in advance.

This may be due to an erraneous rrdtool version. Myself, I had a problem like this which was fixed since rrdtool-1.2.13. rrdtool-1.2.x in general is able to read version 0001 files (of rrdtool-1.0.x) and even to update them etc. When re-creating, e.g. during import, it converts 0001 files to 0003.
But I can't view the second graph. Please post both as an attachment to your post
