Which graphs to use in the config?

Post by harner »

I guess I have two or three questions here...

I basically recovered data off an old cacti box (with an old version of weathermap) and updated everything. I noticed in the weathermap config file, th elinks pointed to rrd files that do not exist. So, it is kind of pointless.

Well, I wasn't sure which ones to map, so I stuck with gigabyte interfaces. I'm not sure if it is right, since the map does come up with the poller, but with really akward stats like "18825.88%" and whatnot. All of the arrows are red, and that just doesn't seem right!
I graphed everything using In/Out Bytes by Total Bandwidth.

My next question is that there is no legend; So how do I get one?

Code: Select all

# Position of legend
LEGENDPOS	0 0

# LEGENDSTYLE should be "orignal" or "line"
LEGENDSTYLE	line
Wouldn't that place it in the corner?

I was checking out some issues in the config for Cacti when i stumbled over Weathermap's errors. I have a feeling this may tie into the issue I am having.

Code: Select all

I'm about to get a working config and just add information to it via the editor.

I'm pretty sure you were using a different weathermap before, as neither of mine (perl or php) have ever used LEGENDPOS, IPCHECK, LEGENDSTYLE or TITLEFOREGROUND. My guess is that it was weathermap4rrd.

The equivalent command in my weathermap would be KEYPOS.

As far as I know wm4rrd and php-weathermap both use the same basics though, so you should be able to strip out all the pretty stuff, and leave NODE, LINK, POSITION, NODES, TARGET, and BANDWIDTH, and get a (fairly) useful result.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)
