Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result -- removed intf.

Hi folks.

I've seen many people post about the "Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result" issue, but mine seems slightly different:

I receive the above error message, and the link to the device indicates its an .rrd file associated with a subinterface that no longer exists on the device.

The question is: how do I get stop Cacti from trying to poll this dead interface? I don't have a data source in my list of data sources, but there is definitely an .rrd file still leftover. How do I delete this dead source or the query that's causing it to happen?

Please try the little green circle next to the Data Query of that host to re-index and post your findings

Here's what I'm seeing in the log:

10/27/2006 03:05:02 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[9] DS[63] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: ...

I clikc on the Host [9] link, and on data queries, I click the green circle.

Upon the next polling cycle, I see the following in the log:

10/27/2006 03:10:02 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[9] DS[63] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: ...

So, it looks like that didn't correct the issue.

I don't understand where this orphaned query process is stored (or being called from), as I don't have a valid Data Source in my list.

Any other ideas?

1) Likely a router, 2) Likely an interface has been deleted, or 3) You added a graph for an interface that contains/response with good data.

Correct; it's a router with an interface that is no longer used (that is, a frame-relay circuit that has been since deleted and replaced with a different DLCI on a different subinterface).

The question is: how do I stop Cacti from querying this interface? I don't even see where Cacti is "seeing" the request to query the router for this particular interface anymore.

Typically, you go into the Cacti log and look for the warning messages and the click on the DS:XX information which takes you to the Interface in question. Unfortunately, we don't provide a "Delete" button from within this page. You can instead search for interfaces with the word "|query_" in them, or note the DS # in the address bar and look for it with the status bar text when you hover over your data sources/graphs.

Just so I'm clear --

I understand the Cacti log stuff -- that's how I came across these errors in the first place. I also noticed the lack of a delete button

When you say "search for interfaces" -- where am I doing that, in the data sources menu, the graphs menu, or both?

When I say search for "Interfaces", I guess I meant search for either Data Source's or Graphs with odd names. Typically they include the vertical bars "|" and the "query" statement due to a reindex event and no matching interface.
