Device Status Unknown

Post by arykustirin »

Dear all,

I already install cacti on Fedora Core 4. Everything is ok. But when I add new device, the device status still unknown.

What a problem with that? Please help me, guys.

Hi

have you run the poller at least once ?

It has to be run from crontab, but you can run it from hand :

Code: Select all

$ php /path/to/cacti/poller.php

Hi, too

This is content of my crontab file

/5 * * * * cactiuser php /var/www/html/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1

The path of poller.pho is correct. And when I type ;
php /var/www/html/cacti/poller.php , the message appear like that :

sh: /usr/local/rrdtool-1.2.15: is a directory
10/17/2006 03:33:57 PM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:1.0803 Method:cmd.php Processes:1 Threads:N/A Hosts:4 HostsPerProcess:4 DataSources:16 RRDsProcessed:8

I add 3 devices (2 Cisco Router & 1 Catalyst). After I type :
php /var/www/html/cacti/poller.php , one of devices is UP. But there is no graph.

What should I do again to fix that?

Thx so much for your advice and help.

Regards,

Ary

IMO you have the wrong path for RRDtool (Settings ->Paths -> RRDTool Binary Path). Currently it's pointing to a directory and not a file.

Try /usr/local/rrdtool-1.2.15/bin/rrdtool instead of /usr/local/rrdtool-1.2.15/bin/

Can you run the poller one more time ?

Also, the "RRDtool default font path" is empty, point it to the .ttf file provided with RRDtool.

What version of Cacti are you running? I would upgrade to 0.8.6i, then review your log's in detail to see if something is not updating as you expect.

So oI again advertise my "NaN Debugging" HowTo. In has a part on "MySQL updateing". Please try those failing commands as advertised. This may require some basic knowledge of mysql, but is all I can do from remote
