to add on, it would be like remote monitoring as the linux server and the snmp server is different. so how can i make them "communicate*? any ideas?

for windows, you will have to add snmp support by installing it, details are all over the forums..
for linux, same thing, there should be a snmp package for your distro, and then edit the config file (usually at /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf)

i'm using slackware linux, does it have 1?
