Hello,
we are using Cacti to Monitor the Traffic of an huge Core Network.
The Problem is that the Cacti Graphs all are created with:
Index Type = IfIndex that all Graphs structure get damaged when the Network reloads and the Cacti gets new SNMPIDs.
My Questions:
1.
How can i move all Graphs to the Type Index Type = IfDescr to avoid this problem for runnig graphs (automatic because there are 100x of devices)?
2.
How can i change the template for the future that all new graphs are created with Index Type = IfDescr?
Thanks for your help.
Sven

Although both can be done, there is a third option, which would be better, IMNSHO.
Have your Core Network Support personnel adjust the Core devices so they do not change indexes when the devices reload.

What to do?
1. What could we do to change this settings for all graphs from ifIndex to IfDescr?
2. When i change the settings from one graph to IfDescr and the poller runs the settings was set to IfAlias.
What is IfAlias or what is the differenz between Alias and Descr?
What could we do to fix this Problem without change Settings on Network Engines?
Thx a lot
Sven
