Integrate external rrdtool-based graphs with different DS's?

Post by 4-nono »

Hi support,
I'am afraid to have an unusal question regarding graphing with cacti.

We integrated successful about 200-300 devices with external RRA's.
Now we have external RRA's that have different counts of datasources (DS).
For example:
Every file system of a system is represented as a uniq datasource in a RRA.

I managed to automate the generation of the RRA'a and the building of the graphs (completely outside of cacti).

Now I'm looking for a way to display these graphs (images in PNG format) inside the Tree View of cacti.

I have attached 2 graph samples where you can see what I mean: both legend and lines have partially different names but the automatic building works fine.

Thanks for any help or comment!

Thank you for the short answer - but I'm afraid that I didn't describe my problem clear enough
I understand and practiced the graphing of external rrd files via cacti. That works fine if I can define a cacti datasource because the rrd file contains everytime the same rrd datasources (I know that is the usual way).

In my case, there will be from time to time a different count of rrd datasources so that there is a need to modify the cacti definitions (datasource and graph definitions).
I have managed to automate the creation of the rrd files and the graphs.
But I didn't find a way - even after done some intensive search inside the cacti forum - to just integrate a graph image into a catci graph tree.

Again: thanks for any help or comment!

ah I see, that does make it just a wee bit more complex. ATM, there is no way to accomplish this. You might look into writing a plugin for cacti though, which might be able to do what you want. Check out http://cactiusers.org/. Otherwise, you'll have to find an automated way of updating the data/graph templates.
