how to change the poller.pphp to cactid?

hi everyone...
i wanna know if it posible to make the poller clycle a little shoter...i mean
*/2 * * * * cactiuser php /dir_cacti/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1
instead of
*/5 * * * * cactiuser php /dir_cacti/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1

and i don't what does the "cactid" do?
so....i hope somedody can answer my questions...

Cactid is an alternative poller for Cacti, which is written in C, while cmd.php in written in PHP.
