Arguments not passing to the poller

I am just starting out at using Cacti and I've been writing a couple of scripts for the Data Input Method.

For some reason, my defined input fields are not being passed to the poller.

I have even tried it with the sample scripts and heres what i see in poller cache:
Data Source: Internet Ping
RRD: /var/www/html/cacti/rra/uk_internet_rtt_18.rrd
Action: 1, Script: perl /var/www/html/cacti/scripts/ping.pl

notice there is no argument after the ping.pl > it should be the hostname.
