ifAlias problem

Post by tecker2010 »

Hi,

my cacti works fine but i have a little problem. i graph a network with nearly 20 routers and let me show the interface-descriptions wirth |query_ifAlias| and works already fine. but there is one router which doesn' t support snmp v2, only v1 and therefore i get "|query_ifAlias|" instead of my really description. is there anything i could to? i don' t want to update the router-ios!!!

thanks for help
greets from germany

ifAlias ( .1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.18 ) should be supported by snmp v1 on Cisco routers (and most other vendors as well). Have you tried manually snmpwalking ifAlias to see if your description shows up where it should? If you can confirm that the description is available via a manual snmpwalk it will help determine if the problem is with your router or something with Cacti.
