I was following the installation instructions (for windows) and had a few problems here and there, of which all have been solved, I think. But when I tried to create a graph, it totally didn't work.
Notice that I don't have Net-SNMP installed, since it was optional in the installation.
This is what I get from the debug file:
RRDTool Command:
C:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="My Windows localhost - Processes" \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--alt-autoscale-max \
--lower-limit=0 \
--vertical-label="processes" \
DEF:a="C\:/apache2triad/htdocs/cacti/rra/my_windows_localhost_proc_15.rrd":proc:AVERAGE \
AREA:a#F51D30:"Running Processes" \
GPRINTLAST:"Current\:%8.0lf" \
GPRINTAVERAGE:"Average\:%8.0lf" \
GPRINTMAX:"Maximum\:%8.0lf"
RRDTool Says:
The system cannot find the path specified.
I do know that the path of the DEF is wrong, but I don't know where to change it, nor do I know if that will fix my problem completely.
Edit:
Well, I'm still not quite sure of the path, if it's correct or not, but what I am sure of is that the .rrd file is simply not being created. I have no idea what's going wrong. I now installed Net-SNMP OPENXTRA since I couldn't find the windows package for Net-SNMP, but the OPENXTRA contains it, along with some other crap but that doesn't matter.
Edit:
Ok, a very very stupid mistake from me, I set the path to RRDTool incorrectly, but I still receive an error:
RRDTool Command:
C:\rrd\rrdtool.exe graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="My Windows localhost - Processes" \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--alt-autoscale-max \
--lower-limit=0 \
--vertical-label="processes" \
DEF:a="C\:/apache2triad/htdocs/cacti/rra/my_windows_localhost_proc_17.rrd":proc:AVERAGE \
AREA:a#F51D30:"Running Processes" \
GPRINTLAST:"Current\:%8.0lf" \
GPRINTAVERAGE:"Average\:%8.0lf" \
GPRINTMAX:"Maximum\:%8.0lf"
RRDTool Says:
ERROR: opening 'C:/apache2triad/htdocs/cacti/rra/my_windows_localhost_proc_17.rrd': No such file or directory
Now I don't have the slighest idea why the hell that doesn't work. Why doesn't it create an RRD file? Does it absolutely require Net-SNMP?
Cacti won't create an .rrd file

Well, since you had the path wrong, you have to wait at least 1 polling cycle before the file will be created and at least 2 before you will see data.
Also, the rrdtool files will not be created if the device is showing a status other than up.

The "C\:" is normal with RRDtool. All colons must be escaped with a backslash "\".
