I need to track the bandwidth utilization on several high speed interfaces and I have run into the good old problem with the 32 bit counters overflowing. I have seen the posts below, but I still can't figure out how to fix it.

I realize that I have to change my in and out readings to hcin and hcout, but where would I do this? And do I need to re-create the RRA's I already have or can I simply update them?

I am not a hardcore programmer/systems engineer (although I have a quite bit of exposure to SNMP, Perl, MySQL and PHP) so simple instructions would be nice. cacti-0.6.5 on Linux 2.2.

Thanks,
Henrik

It was not clearly explained but to change to high speed counters goto "Data Sources" then click "edit data" for the interface you want to change, then on the top field where it says in or out change to hcin or hcout and save, worked great hor me, even with the internal php snmpget().

drub,
Thanks a lot! That's just what I needed.

In future versions, could cacti work some mojo with the interface bandwidth and automatically set the hc[in|out] values if it exceeds the 32 bit values?
