Re: any good howto
Which parts of weathermap cause you problems? Is it the installation? or designing maps? or something else?r_chetanjain wrote:Any good howto for weathermap....i have seen a couple but were complex to implement for a newbie like me

I spent a lot of time writing the manual, and you aren't the only one asking, so I'd like to fill in whatever people think is missing in the manual. I feel this is as much of a bug as the program itself not working.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Re: how about a howto with an Example
Since I don't know you Can you explain how that is different from the first section of the manual? (the one with the installation guide, followed by Basics, followed by an example map). Isn't that it? I want to fix this if it isn't.r_chetanjain wrote:how about a howto with an Example.....for users like me....

Re: ping latency map
If you can get it into an RRDtool file, or a text file, then it can be mapped. The only problem is that you will get two arrows still.r_chetanjain wrote:Hi...i am able to get through the map....i want to know 1 thing..is there any possibility to get the map for Ping Latency....like i have 15 offices world wide....can i get the map from my Hub Location to other branch offices....
I would probably start by looking at the SmokePing template on this forum, to get the latency data. Then you can use the 'BWLABEL unformatted' link option in your map to have weathermap print the data from the rrd, and not a Mbit value.
http://wotsit.thingy.com/haj/cacti/php- ... NK_BWLABEL
I guess you would use the same DS name for both in and out values, like:
Code: Select all
TARGET your-smokeping-data.rrd:ave:ave
This would be nicer if there was a one-way arrow, but there isn't currently. I know other people use this type of setup to map things like OSPF/IS-IS metric values.

Re: thanx
No I can't. I don't use the SmokePing template. You would be able to use the editor for it.r_chetanjain wrote:hey thanx howie....but can u paste an example conf file for the same....and can i use the same cacti-editor for it
