Monitoring winxp from a linux cacti install

Post by toon »

Hello,

I have set up snmp on the xp server, and have got interface traffic up and working.

However, the 2 others I really want are "Graph Template: ucd/net - Memory Usage" and "Graph Template: ucd/net - CPU Usage" but they are both always empty.

What am I missing here? Clearly snmp is working since the interface statistics is up, and there is no firewall etc blocking on the xp server.

Thanks!

The microsoft snmp agent does not have the OIDs which ucd/net snmp stuff uses. You *might* get it to work by uninstalling the MS snmp agent, then installing the net-snmp snmp agent.

Thanks for the reply, but that didn't change much. I got net-smtp working, but I still only get the same info :(

Strange there's not most posts of this, this should be such a basic need..

CPU usage is already reported by the MS snmp agent; snmpwalk .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.

Memory usage can only be reported from WMI calls (there are some perl-> wmi scripts out there which allow you to specify a windows username/password). Another option is SMMP Informant which exposes more data via snmp.
