Post by MaGuS »

Hi all,
I installed cacti and all works fine. Now i try to insert my own graphs. Cron Printout looks fine, bite if i run cmd.php I get this:

Code: Select all

mail cacti # php /www/intern/cacti/cmd.php
ERROR: unknown DS name 'ping_bild'
Unknown parameter encountered: "valid useres"
Ignoring unknown parameter "valid useres"
Unknown parameter encountered: "valid useres"
Ignoring unknown parameter "valid useres"
ERROR: unknown DS name 'hdd_space'
ERROR: unknown DS name 'ping_router'
ERROR: unknown DS name 'hdd_spaceleft'

ERROR: unknown DS name 'hdd_spaceleft'

How to get my own DS Type to work?

Hi,

after testing a night, my main problem ist. that I get the "Data Input" Staff to work, but if I try to add a "Data Source" I run into trouble if I use a rrd file.

I created a DS for Ping a extern host. I used the rrd file of samba and renamed it. But I must use "system_samba" as "Internal Data Source Name".

Ok, this workls now, but now I want to get the Traffic going over my two NIC's. There I must use the "system_loadavg.rrd", as DS I cannot use <intraffic> and out <traffic> because the "system_loadavg.rrd" only knows 1min, 5min and 10min.

Can anybody tell me how to update the rrd files or how to create my own?

Best regards
Magnus

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Cacti creates rrd files for you according to Data Source settings. It is not created immediately... cmd.php does it when cron runs next time. If you want to create the file manualy you can use a rrdtool command displayed at the top of "Data Source Configuration" page.
