Can only browse to cacti via fqdn on localhost

Post by stutz »

Hi,

I have a new install of cacti that I can only connect to using the following;
http://fqdn/cacti/index/php

If I try to connect from a remote box, or the local host using the ip address I get a 403 forbidden. I also cant connect using http://fqdn/cacti

I have created a test.php with the same permissions and this works fine both locally and remotely via ip or fqdn.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Stephen

Please check your httpd's error_log when accessing from remote. Perhaps this is not allowed by httpd.conf

Hi Reinhard,

Thanks for your reply. The thing is I can get to the apache test page, and also test.php remotely using both ip and fqdn. Following is the extract from httpd's error_log ;

10.0.0.126 - - [24/Apr/2006:07:58:46 +0100] "GET /cacti/index.php HTTP/1.1" 403 297 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/2006/03/08 Firefox/1.5.0.2"

Hm, I'm not that familiar with apache. I've hoped, it would explain in more detail, why it sends a 403.

what is your apache setup?

Do you have cacti in a directory under /var/www/html? Is it set up with it's own file in /etc/httpd/conf.d/<file>? It is just part of the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file? Find where cacti is set up and post it here. Did you install via rpm or from a tarball?

version numbers of cacti / apache / php?

what are the permissions of the folders and files where cacti is stored?
