THOLD and small snmp variables

Post by geertn444 »

Hi all,

Is it possible to do math on an SNMP variable before it is getting put into the RRD file ??

I need to graph a SNMP variable, but it only increments slowly in 5 minutes: so only +1 or +10 but not more.

I cannot use THOLD to do thresholding because THOLD only supports integer thresholds. The value that gets stored in RRD (1 / 300) is much smaller.
I used to solve this by polling with PERL script and multplying the value by 300 before returning it back to Cacti, but i dont want to use any script polling anymore. I can get the value with SNMP also,
but i do not see the possibility to multiple by 300 before putting it into RRD, or can i make a second variable = first variable * 300 ??

This problem basically renders Cacti and THOLD useless for me.
Any help appreciated...

regards,
Geert

Please submit a bug tracker ticket for this were I can monitor, otherwise I keep forgetting to go update that code.
