changes in cacti architecture

Post by tafirol »

Hi guys !!

We 've got one shared apache and we need to have cacti running on that server.
For that, we sharing the cacti directory (/var/www/cacti, in a fedora) via nfs to the apache server (/mnt/test , in a debian). We 've got access to cacti home page, we ve got privileges in the mysql database and we can create rrds and graphs but some of them contain data and other are in nan state, permissions are ok.

i hope that you can help me to find any solution or any alternative solution, is very important for us implement the cacti solution.

thanks in advance !!!

If cacti is running fine on some targets/graphs and fails on others, this can't be related to the cacti installation itself.
If SNMP graphs are ok but script graphs fail, please check permissions on the ./scripts directory.
If same graphs that fail on one device but run fine on another one, this will be a target dependant problem (e.g. need to configure snmpd for that target ...)
So please give us some more words on what is failing and what is running well

I was testing more today and I can tell you that the installation in fedora is ok, we ve got access to all snmp targets and the scripts are correctly charged.
When I create one graph for example traffic in/out from fedora (10.10.10.1) this is correctly updated and keep data on graphs, from debian (10.10.10.20) i can create the files over fedora but all of these are showed with nan.
I change the mount directory on 10.10.10.20 to /var/www/cacti (like the installed) and i create new graphs but these continues with nan.
I dont know if is sufficient to share cacti's directory with nfs (read/write) or perhaps it is necessary to carry out some change in the configuration files in order to get running cacti from the shared apache.

I really will appreciate your help

I believe that already I found solution.El problem was the directories rra and log that while they were mounted appeared with uid, I created a user cacti with that uid and the graphs began to walk.

Of all ways I believe that secure NFS would be safer !!!

:D
