Help restoring data in Cacti

Post by shareef777 »

MySQL was erroneously removed from our server. I was able to reinstall MySQL 4.1, but unable to restore the database itself. The rra folder was backed up and saved, but how do I grab the information contained within these rrd files to restore into Cacti?

It all depends. If the MySQL application was removed from Add/Remove programs, but the directory was left untouched, your data should still be there. If that' the case, do the following:

1) Backup the C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL 4.x Server\data directory
2) Reinstall the Application
3) Verify that your database directory is still in place in that direcory, if not restore the subdirectory for your database
4) Enter the Mysql console and reestablish your poller user id's writes to the database.
5) Restart your poller.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
