Issue with performance after moving to SNMPV2 and 64Bit Coun

Post by Maic »

Hi,

after setting up about 167 Hosts with about 4000 DataSources we had to move to SNMPV2 with 64BitCounters (cause of GbitLinks). Using cmd.php
Output Log :

03/03/2006 08:10:11 AM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:10.3829 Method:cmd.php Processes:4 Threads:N/A Hosts:167 HostsPerProcess:42 DataSources:4033 RRDsProcessed:2128

We Discovered all Devices new and still got some missing :

03/09/2006 11:50:40 AM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:39.7097 Method:cmd.php Processes:16 Threads:N/A Hosts:104 HostsPerProcess:7 DataSources:2390 RRDsProcessed:1266

But I don't see any reason why for less DataSources the Poller takes 40sec now instead of 10sec before.

Any help would be appreciated

Thx

First, please have a look at the Devices list to see down hosts, if any. They may not respond to snmp v2c requests.
Second, you increased to 16 processes, why?
Third, you may use cactid which is reported to be about 8 times faster than cmd.php.
Fourth, you may have a look at my latest little baby, the Analyzing Poller Performance from DEBUG Log addon (but I never checked this with cmd.php).

1st : There are no hosts down.
2nd : Why 16 ? I thought it might increase the speed, I checked it with 4 and it seems to be the same.
I am looking to move from cmd.php to cacti poller, but still I see no reason why it slowed down like this.

cheers & thx
