Polling RRD from elseware

Post by surf_joe »

I am using cacti for some time now, And It I a GREAT software :)
I am using the cacti to monitor several hosts.
I would like to be able to remotely pool only RRD's insted of the snmp quires.

I mean I would like to be able to generate the snmp quiries from one place and view the graph elswhere.

I thoght about using rsync but this mean I have to move the entire RRD folder each time, not even the incremental rsync ..

Any ideas ?

Please have a look at http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=51346#51346 for a distributed installation

I don't want to have several cacti sites ..
I want one location that will aggregate the information from several poolings

Ah, you're talking about "distributed polling", e.g. run a poller on different hosts but sending all data to a central site? That is planned feature of cacti 0.9.0. Or am I wrong again?

You are correct.

Thanks for the information.

Can I help in testing this feature? Any other forms of help?

I'd love to contribute in some way for this feature too. I can test configurations with it if you'd like.

I appreciate the help. However, the multi-pollers stuff was completed (in it's initial form anyway) some time ago. I am waiting on some changes in RRA handling before resuming coding.

The big feature that I might need some testing help once I have things somewhat done is a feature called "poller resiliancy", where poller items will be migrated away from downed pollers to live ones.
