Authenticating LDAP but not with LDAPS

LDAP authentication works fine, but when I try to configure cacti for LDAPS, via LDAP server config entry "ldaps://myserver" it fails.
I configured openldap and it can connect to the ldap server via ldaps, with no problems. I get the error below on the apache error_log file.
Is there anything else I need to do to get this to work?
I do not want to use ldap with cleartext passwords on the network.
