pix firewall template not working and data about interface

Post by ankush »

hey friends,

I have configured cacti for my network monitoring. Few things are not clear to me as I am not so familiar with cacti

a) I downloaded the Templatesfor Pix Firewall
cacti_graph_template_pix_memory.xml
cacti_graph_template_pix_connections.xml

I tried to import these templates through first through
1) Import Template from Local File but the cacti showed the error.
2) Import Template from Text : I pasted the contents of the template and then click on save but nothing happened. I checked whether any new template has been added but nothing is there with the name pix .

How do I add the template for pix firewall in Cacti. I am having Pix Firewall 501 with Version of 6.2

b) I want to monitor the Interface Statistics when I selected " Interface statistics" in Data Query Name no interface comes up.

Verbose output of cacti for "Interface Statistics" is below:
+ Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1'
+ No SNMP data returned
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'

The above statictics are for Generic SNMP -Host Name with string as "public" and snmp version 1.

How do I configure cacti to get the Interface statistics?

c) The local memory usage on graphs is shown like this

Free Current: 70.29k Average: 45.9k Maximum: 73.39 K
Swap Current: 990.87k Average: 989.54k Maximum:990.87 K

whereas If I do Top the results shown are:

Mem: 513776k total, 460920k used, 52856k free, 25924k buffers
Swap: 1052216k total, 160k used, 1052056k free, 166996k cached

why this output of cacti is not matching with top in case of used and free memory and
how do I get the real data through cacti?

I might not understand the full functionality of cacti but I am trying to hard to learn or know about it.

Thanks & Regards
