Downed Host Detection via PING does not work

Post by Enrie »

Hello,
after creating a new device for polling we got "SNMP error". Is this because this device does not support SNMP-values for e. g. System, Uptime?
We changed the Settings - Poller - Downed Host Detection to ICMP-PING, but this does not work. We get the "SNMP error" furthermore.

And we can not query this device for any values (via php-Script)
Within Management - Devices this device is Status "unknown"

What is wrong?

Thanks
Enrie

Hi

Code: Select all

Ping Type : The type of ping packet to sent. NOTE: ICMP requires that the Cacti Service ID have root privilages in Unix.
If you want to graph this device using only scripts, choose SNMP as "Downed Host Detection", and leave the SNMP community for this host blank; you'll see "SNMP not in use" instead of "SNMP error".
