Can I make a graph like this one with cacti?

Post by TomasH »

Hi there,

I've been using cacti for quite a while now, but only for basic things (cpu & bandwidth usage).

Lately I've been creating a lot more usefull graphs, like the amount of users browsing my websites graphed per country (using directi ip>country db) etc.

Now I have this graph which shows the total views of all product pages per day, this is data I use every day to check advertisement success, the graph looks like this:

I know I can graph the amount of views every 5 minutes with cacti, but it's not that useful to me that way.

Hence.. is it possible to create a graph like the one above, with 'steps' per day without having to use cacti's yearly graph view?

The graph I have currently works fine, but its one of my early attemts to create my own graphs with php so its not very portable to other sites, like I would like it to be.

Hmm, this is a fundamental shift in the graph display algorythm's in Cacti. It's an interesting comment though. I like the idea of showing graphs with different timespans in a single view, just don't know how we would implement it in the current environment.

With regard to increasing the step, there is a "developer maintained" patch for Cacti 0.8.6x that allows you to specify various polling intervals. I have one that only updated once per four hours.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
