Graph usage of individual users

Post by varun_pkt »

Can Cacti display bandwidth usage graphs of individual users (by IP) on a LAN? I've tried looking through TFMs and the forum, but couldn't find anything.

Thanks!

Not out of the box. There are no (standard) OIDs/MIBs that will provide such values. But if you would be able to build a script that return those data, cacti will be abled to call the script every 5 min and to graph the data.
For more help, search form cflow/netflow on the forum and perhaps throw a look at http://www.ntop.org

Well, this bit gets (or already got) standardized as IPFIX (off topic: 2 years ago I was following this bit and ntop seemed to be a very good solution to me. Ciscos running netflow V5 or V7 if already available and ntop as a netflow receiver should do a very good job. But you'll have to find a mirror port or a tap where it fits in best ... and ntop generated rrd files as well. cigamit has ntop as a pluging in his signature, but AFAIK there's nothing been published yet)
